The party of the year 2000 was broadcast live on New Years Eve from Studio 4 in Donnybrook. Reflecting on the year just past and looking forward to 2001, John Kelly was joined by luminaries such as Mick O’Dwyer, Brian Dowling, Brenda Power, Jason Byrne and David Walsh. The music on the night was nothing short of eclectic with Jack L, Paul Cleary, The Global Funk Orchestra, The Romanian Happy Boys Band and Relish all performing.
Ding Dong Denny O’Reilly curated a series of packages looking back at the highs and lows of the first year of the new millennium: Brian O’Driscoll’s hat-trick in Paris, Bill Clinton down the pub with Bertie Ahern and Bono and the boys walking sheep in Stephen’s Green and singing Beautiful Day on the roof of their hotel. It was quite the year (and that’s just the ‘b’s).
